Same Day Crowns Q&A
What are crowns?
Crowns are used to cover a damaged tooth, improve a misshapen tooth and its alignment, or act as a false tooth applied over an implant.
Porcelain crowns match the color of your teeth and are designed to fit naturally with the other teeth of your mouth so they look and feel like natural teeth.
Why would I need a crown?
A number of dental issues indicate you need a crown. You may need a crown to:
- Protect a weak tooth vulnerable to cracking or restore a fractured tooth
- Replace a large filling
- Attach a bridge
- Cover an implant
- Cover discolored or poorly shaped teeth
- Protect a root canal

What are same-day crowns?
Often, when you’re fitted for a crown, the dentist makes a mold of your tooth and sends it off for development in a lab. In the meantime, you get a temporary crown until the permanent one comes back from the lab. Then, you schedule an appointment to have it applied.
Same-day crowns are created in the offices of A&N Dental. Dr. Kheshtchin uses CEREC®, or Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, to manufacture crowns in-office. It’s a computer-aided design and manufacturing technology that creates crowns and other dental restorations in just one day.
This high-tech equipment is only available at a few of the most advanced dental offices in the country. Dr. Kheshtchin provides this technology, offering you the very best in dental care and convenience.
What are the benefits of same-day crowns?
Same-day crowns save you time and discomfort. When you get a temporary crown, it may not be comfortable because it doesn’t fit your mouth perfectly. Temporary crowns are made from resin and often require you to take extra care and avoid certain foods, so they don’t fall off.
With same-day crowns, you don’t have to tolerate a temporary crown. You leave the office with a permanent replacement that fits your mouth just right. It’s cemented into place securely, so you can eat, talk, and brush normally.
Same-day crowns also save you time. Instead of having to schedule another appointment to have a temporary crown removed and the permanent one applied, you get the crown molded, fitted, and applied in one visit.
