Dental crowns are an effective option for strengthening and protecting damaged teeth. The downside? The procedure can take several visits. That’s why Mandana Kheshtchin, DDS, Brent Woodmansee, DMD, and their team at A&N Dental, located in Tempe, Arizona, offer CEREC® same-day crowns.
These state-of-the-art dental crowns are durable, custom-made, and only take one appointment to complete. You’ll leave your appointment with a fully restored smile in only a few hours.
The many benefits CEREC® one-day crowns
While time and convenience are the two biggest benefits of CEREC crowns, they have many advantages over traditional crowns. Here are a few:
Superior imaging
For starters, CEREC crowns use a small intra-oral camera to take digital impressions of your teeth and mouth. Not only does this let us take more accurate images, but it also cuts out the mouthful of materials needed for traditional imaging.
On top of that, with CEREC’s superior imaging, you’ll get a crown that better matches your surrounding teeth, and you get to watch us make it.
Quick and easy
Unlike normal dental crowns, which can take weeks or months to make, CEREC crowns use advanced computer technology to quickly make your crown. We can make, shape, and fit your crown in just a few minutes.
Durable and long-lasting
CEREC crowns use several different materials to enhance their durability and make them stronger than your natural teeth. That’s because some patients unintentionally grind and clench their teeth. With proper care, your CEREC crown can last much longer than traditional ones.
Better protection and more comfort
Usually, getting a dental crown involves using putty to make an impression of your tooth. Having putty on your tooth often causes discomfort, and it takes more time because the putty has to go on your surrounding teeth as well.
In some cases, depending on the condition of your teeth, you may have to wear a temporary crown while your permanent one is being made. This puts your tooth at risk since temporary crowns don’t offer the same protection.
Clinical studies on CEREC® one-day crowns
We’ve highlighted that CEREC crowns offer better durability and protection with more accurate impressions. But don’t just take our word for it; several studies back up this claim.
One study consisted of 60 participants who received one-day dental crowns. The goal of the study was to see if any damage to the crowns occurred two years after placement.
At the time of this study, patients with traditional crowns frequently reported cracks after two years.
When all 60 participants returned for their two-year follow-up, none of their crowns had any damage.
Another study on CEREC showed a 90% survival rate ten years after placement. The researchers stated that dental restorations made with the CEREC computer system are better than traditional methods.
