People often associate getting a crown with a hassle. That’s because historically, it has been. Getting a crown — or a protective cap over your tooth that looks, feels, and functions just like your natural tooth — used to require multiple trips to the dentist spaced days, if not weeks, apart.

On top of that, between your visits, you were fitted with a temporary crown. Because this crown wasn’t precisely created for your tooth, it was often uncomfortable to wear and prone to falling out.

Fortunately, you can skip all these problems. At A&N Dental in Tempe, Arizona, we offer same-day crowns. If you want to learn how this time-saving process works, keep reading.

Using technology to create same-day crowns

At A&N Dental, our team uses Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC®) to create a crown for you on the day of your initial visit.

Historically, crowns were made by preparing your tooth, then taking an impression of the tooth. That impression was then shipped off to some off-site lab. That meant waiting not just for the creation of your crown, but also for the shipping, processing, and other pieces to fall into place.

Our team skips all that with CEREC. Instead, we use our computer-aided design (CAD) technology to capture a digital scan of your tooth. Then, we get to work right away, using our in-office milling technology to create your crown right here in the office.

All told, CEREC enables us to give you the same high-quality crown you would get from using an off-site lab, but it slashes your wait time and inconvenience.

The benefits of same-day crowns

You will need to wait while we mill your quality custom crown. But instead of waiting as long as two weeks for your crown — during which time you’re stuck with a temporary crown — you get your crown later that day.

That means you don’t need to carve out time in your schedule weeks later for another dentist appointment. And it means you don’t have to live life with an ill-fitting temporary crown. Instead, you leave our office with your new, custom crown cemented firmly in place. That means you can get back to living your life normally.

We’re proud to offer CEREC at A&N Dental. Few dentists do, but we’ve worked hard to integrate this technology into our office so we can offer you the best, most convenient crowns possible.
